Police in Paris have nabbed a young woman in connection to $200,000 worth of jewelry stolen from Axl Rose, reports the Agence France-Presse. Following a Guns N' Roses concert in Paris on June 5, the band played during a private aftershow event.

Police say three gold and diamond necklaces were stolen during the post-gig party. The woman, a model, returned the necklaces today to police and was subsequently arrested. She claims not to know how she ended up leaving with the jewelry.

Bob Welch, an early member of rock band Fleetwood Mac who enjoyed a successful solo career with hits such as "Ebony Eyes," died on Thursday of an apparent suicide at home in Nashville. He was 66.

Police said Welch's body was found by his wife with a single gunshot wound to the chest, and he had left a suicide note. Welch suffered from health problems, but police did not disclose what those issues were.?

"The police are investigating it as a suicide, and there was no evidence of foul play," Nashville police spokesman Don Aaron told Reuters.?

Welch was born on Aug. 31, 1945, in Los Angeles to movie producer father Robert L. Welch and actress mother Templeton Fox. He moved to Paris to study French at the Sorbonne, then returned to Los Angeles in the early 1970s.?

He was invited to join Fleetwood Mac after the departure of founding members Peter Green and Jeremy Spencer. He played guitar and was a vocalist with the band from 1971 to 1974, working on five of their early albums including 1971's "Future Games," 1972's "Bare Trees" and 1973's "Mystery to Me."?

It was after Welch's departure from the band in 1975 that Fleetwood Mac went on to find its largest measure of fame on albums such as 1977's "Rumours" with the addition of Lindsey Buckingham and Stevie Nicks to the band's lineup.?

Nicks released a statement, calling Welch's death "devastating."?

"He was an amazing guitar player ? he was funny, sweet ??and he was smart ??I'm so very sorry for his family and for the family of Fleetwood Mac ??so, so sad," Nicks said.?

Welch fell out with his former band mates after suing the group in 1994 for unpaid royalties, which led to his exclusion from the group's Rock and Roll Hall of Fame induction in 1998.?

The singer and guitarist formed a hard rock group called Paris in 1975, releasing two albums, "Paris" and "Hunt Sales," before disbanding the group a few years later and embarking on a solo career.?

His debut solo record, the pop-driven "French Kiss" in 1977, went platinum and produced the hits "Sentimental Lady," "Ebony Eyes" and "Hot Love, Cold World." Welch followed up with 1979's "Three Hearts," and four more albums throughout the early 1980s, none of which emulated the same success as "French Kiss."?

He moved to Phoenix, Ariz., in 1987 and formed a short-lived group called Avenue M, before moving to Nashville in the late 1990s, working on a songwriting career and releasing a tribute to bebop music, "Bob Welch Looks At Bop," in 1999.?

His most recent albums, 2003's "His Fleetwood Mac Years and Beyond" and 2006's "His Fleetwood Mac Years and Beyond 2," had previously unreleased material as well as new compositions.

Welch is the second member of Fleetwood Mac to die this year. In January, another former guitarist for the band, Bob Weston, died in London from a gastrointestinal hemorrhage, at age 64.

Police: Bank robber had to be cut from air duct

OAK LAWN, Ill. (AP) ? A wig-wearing man broke into a suburban Chicago bank vault and nearly made off with $100,000 but got stuck in an air duct and had to be cut out hours later, authorities said Sunday.

Charles Estell, 38, was found early Sunday hiding in an air duct in an office next to the bank, according to Oak Lawn police spokesman Michael Kaufmann.

The Chicago man had allegedly robbed the suburban bank Saturday afternoon, and pointed a gun at bank employees who confronted him in the vault, according to the FBI.

"I don't want to kill or hurt you," Estell said, according to the criminal complaint. "I just want the money."

He allegedly stuffed $100,000 in a backpack and fled. Employees told authorities it appeared he escaped through the ceiling.

Authorities spent hours searching for him and located him around 1 a.m. Sunday. But before they could cut him loose from the air duct, they had to remove a wig of long, beaded dreadlocks he was wearing.

According to the criminal complaint, Estell told investigators that he got into the vault through the ceiling.

Estell was charged Sunday with one felony count of bank robbery and could face up to 20 years in prison. He has not entered a plea, and is due back in court Tuesday. It wasn't immediately clear if he had a lawyer. A phone message left Sunday at a number listed as his wasn't immediately returned.

Kickstarting a Career in Filmmaking: Sam Dunnewold and Kaitlin ...

Kaitlin Randolph was writing stories before she started kindergarten in northern Wisconsin. Sam Dunnewold started making films as a seventh grader at Northfield Middle School. Sam was also a member of the last class of Northfield eighth graders to go through their entire middle school career in the building which is now the Weitz Center for Creativity.

Both Kaitlin and Sam ended up at Carleton College, where they majored in Cinema and Media Studies (CAMS). Now the two young filmmakers are preparing to graduate from college and embark on the next stage of their careers: making their first feature-length film.

With several other partners, they?ve created a production company, Lucid Films LLC, and have created a Kickstarter account with the goal of raising at least $5,000 before June 24, 2012.

But the process began in the summer of 2010, when Kaitlin began brainstorming ideas for a screenplay about ?two depressed twentysomethings? who literally share each other?s dreams, but who eventually ?find reality catching up with them.? The story gradually took shape over the following fall and winter terms at Carleton, and in early 2011 she brought Sam on board. In the fall, they decided that the film, Lucidity, would be their project for the year after their graduation from Carleton.

The film was cast in May with actors from the Twins Cities who responded to a casting call on Minnesota Playlist, and filming is due to begin on August 13. Meanwhile, there?s the matter of securing funding to pay for equipment, locations, actors, props, insurance, food, gas, and festival submission fees. This is where Kickstarter comes in. The Kickstarter website was launched in 2009 as way of ?crowdsourcing? funding for creative projects?or ?crowdfunding,? as it has come to be called. Since 2009, more than 20,000 Kickstarter projects have been funded.

For a pledge of as little as $10, anyone can become a backer of Lucidity.? For as little as $25, backers can earn rewards, including a DVD of the completed film. The credit cards of backers are only charged if the project goal is reached on time.?

For Sam, the first creative task as producer?after creating the company and setting up a bank account?was ?setting the ground rules? that would give members of the creative team opportunities to share their ideas, while insuring that the project remains true to Kaitlin?s creative vision. So far, producer and director have been on the same creative wavelength.

?He?s really understood my vision,? Kaitlin says.

The film, Sam explains, is about the lure of dreams, the conflict between fantasy and reality, and, ultimately, the need to come to terms with reality. The tagline is: ?They can share their dreams, but can they share their reality??

After the filming in August?in the Northfield area and in Duluth?the post-production process, including editing and professional mixing, will take about six months. Sam expects a final product between March and May of 2013.? Meanwhile, both Sam and Kaitlin will be taking part-time jobs to make ends meet.

Despite their early interest in filmmaking, both Kaitlin and Sam chose Carleton, a small liberal arts college, over film school.? Their time together at Carleton has had an enormous influence on their approach to filmmaking.

?Carleton,? Sam says, ?has one of the best, if not the best, film programs of any small liberal arts college in the country.?

He points out that the program?s stature has been raised by the opening of the new, state-of-the-art Weitz Center for Creativity. But it isn?t just Carleton?s technical resources that shaped their craft and their creative vision.

?For us, film is just a medium for telling stories,? Sam says. ?You don?t learn about what stories to tell from going to film school. You learn that from hanging out and being a person. And college is a great place to hang out and be a person, and to get life experience.?

?And the community at Carleton is so much more diverse,? Kaitlin adds.?

The opportunities for conversation, for discussion, for learning from the experience of others, open up so many possibilities for deeper insight into what it means to be human.

?I have definitely had conversations that were not at all about film,? Sam says, ?that very much inform the way I think about film.?
